Mary Mytting Dell (Founding Director; Board Chairperson)
Mary likes her dog Shep, running on the beach with her husband, puttering around in her vegetable/herb garden and chatting with friends and family back home in Canada via Skype.
Mary is a Canadian woman who has lived and worked in South Africa for the last 6 years as a volunteer in different community projects. Mary started Boost Africa in 2007 after she realised, whilst working in the community that many children are kept from school because their parents or guardian simply cannot afford a uniform.
She is actively involved in the day-to-day running of Boost Africa and do most of the home-visits herself. She is also the After School Coordinator.
Elbie Botha (Fundraising & Research; Board Secretary)
She likes swimming in the icy Atlantic, sewing, cooking and strolling through a market on a Saturday morning.
Elbie joined with Mary in 2007 to assist in the establishment and registration of Boost Africa as a non profit organisation and currently focuses on the organisational development and fundraising of Boost. Alongside her work with Boost, she is an admitted attorney and artist. She has a law degree from the University of Pretoria.
Tania Manuel (Staff)
She likes her two beautiful daughters, walking on the beach, watching detective movies, and window shopping.
Tania joined Boost in April 2010 and assists as an administrator and After School Program teacher.
Jonathan Talley (Staff)
Jonathan joined in August 2010 as a full-time volunteer. He is from Colorado, USA. He is actively involved in the day to day running of Boost Africa and is an After School Program teacher and field worker.
He likes cooking with lots of garlic, walking on the beach and cracking jokes with young and old. The eternal optimist.
Mpumelelo Ncwadi (Board Member)
Mpumi holds a BSCE degree from the University of Texas, MPhil from the University of Cambridge and a MBA from the University of Cape Town. Mpumelelo is currently employed as an executive associate at Beyond Ordinary Advisors in Cape Town.
He enjoys road running and the outdoors. He is also an avid reader and of course likes to help those who are less fortunate than himself.
Lucky Mayaphi (Board Member)
He has a diploma in Analytical chemistry and is the president of MLM International, a succesfull import and export company of chemical related products.
He likes to watch soccer, play golf with his daughter and to spend time with his family.
Pauline de Klerk (Board Member)
She likes to see the church rise to its responsibility of taking care of widows and orphans in the local community. She is passionate about the local church and tackling real justice issues such as HIV/AIDS, education and skills development. She is a mother and a wife, who enjoys family time and is also a keen veggie gardener.
Pauline is the Managing Director of SALT, a non-profit organisation who amongst other things provides Boost Africa with food parcels that are distributed to our families in need.
Derek Postma (Board Treasurer)
He completed his B.Acc Sc (Hons) at the University of South Africa and is currently employed as a consultant at Innovise Business Intelligence in Johannesburg . He helps out with the annual financials of Boost Africa and gives excellent advise where necessary.
He enjoys long-distance running, tennis, horse riding and travelling.
